RCotD #87

Random Card of the Day #87:

Krovikan Fetish - 2B
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant creature
When Krovikan Fetish enters the battlefield, draw a card at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep.
Enchanted creature gets +1/+1.

Initial thoughts:

A delayed-cantrip +1/+1 aura. Talk about weak. Not to mention if your opponent removes the targeted creature. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: typically auras are not good. There are exceptions such as Rancor and Angelic Destiny among others. Keep in mind if you need an enchantment on a creature so that the creature is good, you probably should not be playing that creature.

For example, Mirran Crusader is a good card. A 2/2 double striker. Put Angelic Destiny on it and suddenly your opponent is in a world of pain. Yavimaya Dryad is a pretty decent card, put Armadillo Cloak on it and it becomes really powerful. Typhoid Rats is an okay card, so you put Rancor on it... no. It has to have a lasting effect. I'm sure it's funny that your Typhoid Rats has Skeletal Grimace, but that's not going to win the game. In Limited, try putting Skeletal Grimace on Rotting Fensnake and start swinging. That should yield good results--but remember it's only good in Limited, when you go into constructed, Auras are far and few between.

2/5
