IPotW #18

Interesting Play of the Week #18:

I started the game by laying down a Plains, but Lolzor stopped me and put down a Leyline of Anticipation, and flashed in Blacker Lotus--I responded with a Force of Will pitching Pact of Negation. Lolzor flashed in a Lotus Petal, sacrificing it for blue and cast Force Spike, targeting Force of Will. I sigh and let the stack resolve, Blacker Lotus resolves and Lolzor cracks it to cast Scout's Warning and then Serra Avenger. Then he casts an unkicked Orim's Chant to prevent me from casting spells.

The game went on for a while with a lot of draw-swing-go going on. We lost track of what was going on, but later on, after a Splendid Genesis ended up resolving in a Shahzarad sub-game, Bit entered in with 40 life and Dark Magician Sentinal as his General. I ended up Mind Control'ing it later, but couldn't pay for it's activation costs until I got Shimmering Grotto to produce Shadow Mana for my Chandelure.

Lolzor then got a Queen High Flush of Spades and exiled the board of all permanents, but I used Quicken into Temporal Cascade to shuffle everyones hand into the library. This caused a lockdown of all the cards in the game to be shuffled into everyone's library.

The game stood still as a pseudo Jace, the Mind Sculptor ultimate hit our hands as we slowly draw one card a turn and pass. Eventually I draw an Island and begin to quickly sift through my library to get more lands using Portent. I finally get to seven lands as Lolzor gets to five lands (well, 3 lands and 2 Jokers which were effectively Vesuva.) I manage to flash in Riku of Two Reflections at the end of his turn. Lolzor shrugs as he has no response.

Next turn I cast Palinchron, and organize the triggered abilities so Palinchron's untap effect happens first, untapping all my lands. Then I get Riku's ability to trigger, so I pay {G}{B} and get a token Palinchron on the field. In response to my own ability I tap all my lands to have 5 floating mana, which I use 4 of them to bounce the original Palinchron back to my hand. I tap out again and re-cast Palinchron, and organize the triggered abilities so Palinchron's untap effect happens first, untapping all my lands. Then I get Riku's ability to trigger, so I pay {G}{B} and get a token Palinchron on the field. In response to my own ability I tap all my lands to have 6 floating mana, which I use 4 of them to bounce the original Palinchron back to my hand.

I announce I do this ad nauseum to Lolzor and choose to stop at a million mana, where I proceeded to Banefire Lolzor for 999,999 damage. Lolzor raises his finger and says he has a response, but I tell him Banefire can't be countered since X is more than 5. Lolzor casts Radiate targeting Banefire causing everybody in the game to lose.

So I lose 3 life from losing the sub-game of Magic, where Lolzor enters his attack step and finally swings with Serra Avenger for the game.

Well, thanks for reading this week's Interesting Play of the Week, be sure to come back next week for even more crazy games!
